2016 Kansas Beef Expo Junior Show General Rules
The Kansas Beef Expo Junior Show is open to all bona fide 4-H, FFA, or Breed Association members from within the United States. Exhibitors cannot have reached their 22nd birthday prior to January 1, 2016. All exhibitors must be an active, bona fide 4-H, FFA or Junior Breed Association member to show. Exhibitors must show their own animal unless they have more than one animal in a single class or have special circumstances previously approved by show committee.
The 2016 Kansas Beef Expo Junior Show will be a three day show. A two ring system will be used with a different judge in each A Ring and B Ring.
Each day animals will have the option to show in one or both rings.
The Market Show will be a prospect show. Steers and Market Heifers must be born on or after Jan. 1, 2016. Breeding Heifers must be born on or after Jan.1, 2015. Any heifer that has calved will be ineligible to show. Heifers will be shown in two separate divisions; Senior Heifers born in 2015 and Junior Heifers born in 2016. A top 5 will be picked in each division.
Youth show entries will be allowed in the barn no sooner than 8:00 AM on Thursday, Dec. 8th. Senior Breeding heifers must be on the grounds by 5:00 p.m. on Thursday Dec. 9th. Junior Breeding Heifers must be on the grounds by Friday at Noon. Market Animals must be on grounds by noon, Saturday, December 10th. Check in times will be listed on the show schedule. Early check in will be available and will be announced at the show. Late check in may be allowed for certain exceptions. Please contact show management for details.
Youth show cattle may be stalled in the Prairie Pavilion in the designated area. No cattle will be permitted to stall in sale cattle aisles. Once an animal is on the grounds that animal is not allowed to leave the grounds unless it is an emergency situation. All animals exhibited are released from the grounds once their respective class or division is complete. NO GROOMING CHUTES OR TACK WILL BE ALLOWED IN THE DESIGNATED CHIPPED CATTLE TIE STALLS. All tack and grooming chutes must be in designated areas or alley ways.
Steers and market heifers will be weighed and classes will be broken by breed and weight. Exhibitors will be responsible for weighing their own animals and turning in a weight by noon on Saturday. Division winners will be weighed back after class and the weight must be within 10% of weight turned in by exhibitor. Breeding Heifer classes will be broken by age and breed.
All Breed Steers must have respective paperwork from a state or national association to be eligible to show. If breed specific paperwork is not available, exhibitor must show a form of proof of paperwork to show in a breed. (Application papers or a bill of sale is acceptable). Any animal that has no paperwork proving breed specifications will show in the crossbred/commercial division. A breed must have at least five head to represent a breed division. If fewer than five are entered, that breed will show as AOB. Each animal showing in a breed specific class may be subject to a screening committee. All screening committee decisions are final.
All breed specific heifers must be registered in the name of the junior exhibitor. In the instance of multiple owners, junior exhibitor name must be present on registration papers. All breed specific heifers must have respective paperwork from their respective national association to be eligible to show. If breed specific paperwork is not available, exhibitor must show a form of proof of paperwork to show in a breed. (Application papers or a bill of sale is acceptable). Any heifer that has no paperwork proving breed registry will show in the commercial division. Heifers entering the AOB class must be registered heifers (not commercial). All heifers purchased by a junior member at the 2015 or 2016 Snow Angels sale are eligible to show in the Beef Expo Youth Show, the entry fee will be waived on these animals.
Three Strike rule will be in effect, if an exhibitor loses control of an animal in the show ring more than twice in a class that animal will be excused from the show ring.
AOB Division is for all breed qualified steers or heifers that do not have minimum numbers for breed division . All AOB heifers or steers must have association certificates or paperwork to show in the AOB division. Those without proper paperwork will show in the crossbred or commercial class. Crossbred/Commercial class is for all steers or heifers that are not eligible to show as in a breed specific division, do not posses breed characteristics associated with specific breed, crossbred steers or heifers and or any steer or heifer not deemed fit to be represented by a specific breed or do not have proper documentation. All breeds below above are potential breed divisions, all breeds must have a minimum of three entries to be instated as a breed division. Show committee has right to add or delete divisions based on number of head participating.
All animals are required to have an official health certificate issued within 30 days of the show. Health certificates must be provided by a licensed veterinarian and have physical address on the health paper. Animals with lesions of ringworm, warts or infested with mange will be excused from the premises.
The Kansas Beef Expo Executive Committee and Director has final ruling on interpretation of all rules.
